Today was my birthday. I love sharing a birthday with our great nation! * I fell asleep before finishing this post. :)
As you know by my earlier post, my day started off very early. My wonderful husband got up and prepared me a plate of 2 scrambled eggs with spinach and a banana. After I ate, I stretched a little bit then I drove to the church to participate in my first ever 5k. I was both nervous and excited. Excited to be trying something new, and nervous because I hadn't done much training, and I was doing it alone.
I was grateful for the birthday present Tim gave to me early, an armband for my phone so I could listen to music while I ran. I listened to one of the MXPX albums. Since I hadn't done much training, I didn't run the whole time. I estimate that I ran about a third of it total. I started off running, and I finished running, I also ran a few times in between. Along one part of the course, a family from the Stake stood at the end their street and cheered on the runners, that was really awesome for me. It gave me an extra push. My husband, our 2 girls, and my mother in law were there for the start and end of my race. I loved having their support. My final time was 39:48 or 38:49, I was a little tired when they told me my time.
After the run, our Stake had a flag raising ceremony. The girls participated in a kids choir that sang You're a Grand Old Flag. They were so cute, and did a wonderful job. We went from the church to a pancake breakfast that our Ward held at a local school. The girls had a blast playing on the playground equipment. I love that R is getting more confident in her physical abilities.
When we came home, the girls and Tim gave me my other present, a pair of BOBS, Skechers version of TOMS. They are navy, and look like boat shoes. We got invited to another family's house to go swimming. They have an amazing backyard, with a beautiful pool. The girls had so much fun swimming. The family even fed us some lunch.
We came home and had a pretty quiet afternoon. We finished off the day with dinner at Subway for the girls, and Ralph's for Tim and I. The kids meals at Subway come in a reusable Brave bag. Then we went to our old apartment complex and watched the fireworks show at the High School. They always have an amazing display! J does not like loud sounds, so I sat with my hands over her ears the whole time. She eventually fell asleep in my lap.

Since we had a couple of late nights in a row, the girls and I took it easy today. We went to the library and turned in their summer reading program weekly activities, and got their prizes. They chose free kids meals from Rainforest Cafe. That night we went to Charlotte's last night of training, she looked so cute in her graduation cap. One of the other dogs in the class had their birthday on Monday so his owner brought bows for all the other dogs, and home made red velvet cupcakes for all the owners, she also made enough for the girls, since they had been coming with me to the training.

Happy Birthday Grandma Nilas!
Today was supposed to start with me attending Body Pump with someone from church teaching the class, but I forgot to set the alarm, and I woke up at the time I wanted to get to the gym. I quickly woke the girls and got them dressed and fed, but the class was full by the time we got there. I decided to do my next day of the couch to 5k program. I will make it to Body Pump next week :).
After the gym, we came home quickly to pack up our food for the day, I had already packed up our other stuff last night. Then we met Grandma Nilas at California Adventure. She got there at opening, and had already gone on 3 rides by the time we got there. Our first stop was to buy the picnic lunches they sell that come with a fast pass for World of Color. We had such a fun time celebrating with Grandma Nilas. The girls were such troopers lasting the whole day. R especially did so great with having to walk all day. Thank you again Nilas for letting us celebrate with you.
July 7th
Today was cleaning and grocery shopping day. The girls also found time to make their home made World of Color show. R and J have such a good time crafting with each other.
This evening I went out to dinner at the Anaheim Garden Walk for my best friends birthday celebration. There were 5 of us, and we ate at California Pizza Kitchen. When I got home, the girls put on their presentation of World of Color for Tim and I. R did such a great job on the drawings. I will do a photo post soon.

The early bird gets the worm?
This is the earliest I have been awake on purpose since Tim and I went to his Sprint Triathlon on Cinco de Mayo.
Our Stake at church puts on an annual 5k fun run and Flag Raising Ceremony. Every year I tell myself I should do that next year. Next year finally arrived! I haven't trained very well for it, so I hope I survive.
I'll let you all know later how I did.

Tic Tac Toe 3 in a Row!
Today was an interesting day to say the least.
The girls and I had a relaxing morning just hanging out around the house. I did about 4 loads of laundry. Then I noticed how late it had gotten, and we had to rush down to the church to drop off a veggie tray for an after funeral luncheon. From there we went to Summer Speech for J. At one of the intersections there is no left arrow, so you have to yield to oncoming traffic before you can turn. I was the second car in the turn lane. The car ahead of me started to turn, and my cup fell out of the cup holder, I looked down to pick it up, and didn't realize that the car in front of me had stopped. I wasn't able to brake fast enough, and I hit the car in front of me. The girls and I are fine, so are the ladies in the car that was in front of me. No damage to my car, and very minimal damage to the car in front of me, just some cracked paint on the bumper. Needless to say we were late to speech. :)
After speech we came home and had lunch. Then I cleaned out my car, and folded and put away all the laundry. Then I made up a second veggie tray to bring to an annual block party hosted by Tim's Aunt and Uncle in Norwalk. Fireworks are legal there :0. We all had a blast. My personal favorite part of the night is getting to set off my own fireworks. Last year TNT came out with a Jumbo Purple Rain, which the regular ones are my favorite. I didn't buy them last year, but I did buy one this year. It was our finale! I LOVED it! We appreciate being invited every year, and I look forward to it as part of my birthday celebration.
I better get to bed, I need to be up in 5 1/2 hours.

Monday, Monday!
Well, I made it 2 days in a row now. :)
The girls and I had a hang out around the house day today. We ate breakfast together, R had Monterey Jack cheese, a triple chocolate protein shake, and almonds (she wants to be a vegetarian), J had cereal with protein chocolate milk, they both also had a banana. I had a slice of bacon and 2 eggs cooked in the same pan as the bacon. I would have had 2 slices but between J and Charlotte (our pug) my other one disappeared.
We got to call Grandma Nilas on the phone, the girls really enjoyed that. We made plans for Disneyland with her on Friday for her birthday. I will finally get to see Cars Land!
I cleaned up the breakfast and caught up on the dishes from yesterday. Tim had washed most of them for me, but there were a few left over. The girls were supposed to be cleaning up their room, but instead they started playing with their toys. I love listening to them play so well together. Their favorite movies/toys are Harry Potter, Smurfs, Barbie, and Brave. They turned a piece of their furniture into Merida's Castle. The Smurfs lived in the attic of the castle (but they didn't cause any mischief, because the triplets cause enough). At one point some of the characters were trying to escape from the castle and hopped into Barbies car, which J then lifted up the car and walked around the house saying "Wingardium Leviosa". It was the perfect mesh of all their favorites.
For lunch R actually ate some meat, Trader Joes meatballs (the girls love Trader Joes), then I made them a fruit salad, I had the leftover spinach salad from last night with some chopped honey roasted turkey breast and some string cheese.
I have had a nasty cough for about 2 weeks now and called in the morning to get an appointment, they didn't have any available until mid afternoon. R has had the same cough, but not nearly as bad as mine. Right before I was going to load all of us up to go to the doctors Tim got home, so J got some daddy time.
The doctor said my lungs were clear and that I didn't have a sinus infection, but that it was just allergies. She did give me some prescription strength cough suppressant tablets, which seem to be helping so far. I am glad it wasn't any worse, so i can still do what I want to on Wednesday (more on that Wednesday). Since R had the same symptoms as me, we didn't keep her appointment.
When we got home, the girls finally cleaned up their room :). For dinner we had home made meatballs, with Brussels sprouts on the side for Tim and I, and spaghetti squash for R and J. Ten Tim went down to the church to set up for a funeral happening tomorrow morning. I was able to get the girls in bed and dinner cleaned up and Tims lunch packed before he got home, so we got some time to cuddle and watch a movie on the couch together. My little brother let us borrow Across the Universe. I am enjoying it so far.

Beautiful Sabbath
This is my second attempt. I pressed the wrong button on my iPad and erased my entire post the first time. :/
I am committed to blogging regularly now. It is a birthday present to myself. Hopefully it will help me to stay focused and keep a clear mind.
Today the weather was gorgeous, and the girls were well behaved (just like they always are).
The first Sunday of the month, the members of our church have a fasting and testimony day. R loves to have the opportunity to share her sweet testimony with everyone. She has no fear of public speaking (a trait she inherited from her father) :) Tim and I were asked to give the prayers in Sacrament meeting today, when it was my turn J insisted on going up with me, so our entire family went up on the stand today.
Since I got released from the Primary Presidency a month ago, Tim and I get to attend Sunday School together. I love sitting next to my husband while learning more about our Savior and His teachings. I also got asked to give a prayer in Relief Society today. I enjoy fellowshipping with the other women in the ward. The experiences shared today by some of the women were very uplifting and inspiring.
After church the girls enjoyed some craft time. They are obsessed with Pixars Brave, so they made their own paper dolls of the characters. R even made multiple outfits for Merida, including pajamas and a bed with a blanket and a pillow. She stuffed the pillow with the scraps from the crafting, she is so clever.
My little brother and his wife stopped by to pick up some software from Tim. Just before that I noticed our cupboard was not working right. I asked Griffin to look at it, and he confirmed that it was broken, he said he would fix it later. Shortly after they left, my dad came for dinner. My mom is in Arizona for 2 weeks, because my sister Darice just had her fifth baby. We ate blackberry balsamic glazed pork chops, a spinach salad, and Cuban style "rice". It was amazing! The girls had sun dried tomato and basil sausage from Trader Joes and the "rice". They are not very adventurous with their food. Tim and I like to try out a new recipe each Sunday, we normally double it so we can have left overs, we forgot to do that today. So no left overs :(. We love having family so close.
After dinner, Tim had to leave right away to attend a baptism. My dad stayed for a few minutes and talked with the girls some more and helped me clear the table. Then he went home and the girls and I went to church so the girls could practice the song all the Primary children are singing at the flag raising ceremony on the Fourth of July.
We had had some late nights this week, so J was really tired and didn't have a chance to take a nap, so she went to bed early. Then Tim and I played Scrabble with R. She did a great job, it was fun to see her grasp the concept of the game. She only asked for help a few times. It was a wonderful way to end a Beautiful Sabbath.
